Page Numbering

I've copied another document to use as a template (it saves me having to
reformat a large from scratch). However whe I attempt to insert the autotext
for page numbers into the footer on the first page it always starts at "Page
0 of 18" but I want to start at Page 1. The original document was st up as a
different first page but I've changed this back.
I've tried clearing the footer box and clearing the formats but it still
starts at page 0.
Any help appreciated

1. Activate the header/footer area (for example by double-clicking in the
header).

2. Word 2003: On the Header and Footer toolbar, click the Format Page Number
button.

Word 2007: On the Header & Footer Tools: Design ribbon tab, click Page
Number, and then click Format Page Numbers.

3. In the Page Number Format dialog box, click the "Continue from previous
section" option, and then click OK.
