Page numbers differ on printed document from source document

I've reset the page X of Y format a number of times in the source document
(Word 2002 SP2) and tried different Print Options such as:- Odd Only and
Current Page Only and Specified Actual Pages; but no matter what I do, and
how perfect it looks on screen, or which of my two printers I use, I get the
same result, namely Page 1 of 1, Page 2 of 2 etc.

This is a problem that as only starting occurring in the last few weeks.
