Page numbers not there.

Allan TFF

I have page numbers set up on a footer in my master pages, but they simply
don't show up on pages where there is a graphic that bleeds over that edge.

I've ensured that the page numbers are brought to the front, on the page
master, and that the relevant graphic is sent to the back.

I've also checked that there are no extra line breaks etc in the footer; and
have run the design checker and turned on the 'show hidden characters', both
of which confirms this to be the case.

Any ideas?

Thanks so very very much! I don't know how to turn on/off non-printing
characters. I did see the 2's that got in that box although I don't know
how
the heck they did. I try to do good deeds everyday, today I'll do an
extra-good one. Thanks Again!!!!

I would post the response here because it's a common mistake.

I keep my non-printing characters turned on all of the time and I could
see
a ¶ after the # sign in the text box for page numbers. It should have
been
that little circle with spokes. She had extra spaces and hard returns to
get
the number to the bottom of the text box. Plus there were extra numbers
in
that text box that couldn't be seen.

I deleted out all of the useless spaces/returns/numbers and changed the
format of the text box from "middle" to "bottom". All of the pages now
have
numbers that show. :)

Whenever you have something funky happening, run the Design Checker. In
doing that, you can tell if you have text in the overflow area - that
means
it can't be seen. If you have your non-printing characters turned on,
potential problems become a bit more obvious.

Dawn is now able to get back to work and make a whiz-bang document. Oh -
and
now you need to do a good deed for someone. :)

Yes, the odd pages have Master Page A applied and the even pages have
Master
Page B applied. Yet neither odd nor even have any page numbers after
page
9.

:

Double check which master page is assigned to pages 9 and up. Make
sure
it's
correct on each and every page.

yes, it is set up as a pound sign on the master.

Do you have your page numbers set up on the Master pages or the
regular
pages?

No. I didnt know anything about insert section before someone
here
posted
it.
I've even tried creating a new publication with the same artwork
(copy
and
paste really) and still get up to 9 pages with page numbers. Can
it
be
something with the formatting of the #? Do I need to add an
additional
pound
mark (#) to the master so it will show two numbers? Can I set
the
page
number format to show x amount of pagess?

:

Do you have a new section from Page 9 on?

Yes, there are two master pages...Page A and Page B because
the
formatting
has to be different to allow for page binding.

Do you have more than one Master Page?

I have my master pages set up to put page numbers on all
the
pages
of
my
publication. However, after the 9th page the numbers stop.
They
are
still set
up on Master Page A and Master Page B but they do not
appear
on
any
subsequent page after page 9. Does anyone know how to fix
this?

If your objects are covering the page numbers, on those pages create a manual
page number on the publication page, bring to the front.
