Page numbers

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Power PC In a multipage Excel document there used to be grey page numbers on the pages that told you what page you where on. They are gone and I have not been able to activate them in Preferences. This is especially handy when you want to print one page in a multipage doc. I have to now scroll down and count the page breaks.

Thanks

In Page Layout view, the status bar (View/Status Bar) shows the page
number of the active cell, which should eliminate counting.

The numbers you're referring to were in Print Preview View, which has
been dropped from XL08. One possible alternative is to choose Print,
click Preview, then scroll in the Preview App to the page to print and
print it from that app. Not as quick and easy, but it might work for you.

Thank you for your response J.E. Unfortunately (for me) the only thing that appears to the right of Page Layout in the View/Status bar is "Ready". And the Print option you mentioned is great if you can tell what is on the page - in this case each page looks basically the same except for some content (form) that you can't read in the Print screen

Hi Henry;

It sounds like you need to actually click the Page Layout View button (or
select it from the View menu) in order to switch to that View. The page
number info will automatically be displayed on the Status Bar. If you're in
Normal View the page number info doesn't display.

Another thought is to add page numbering in the Header or Footer. The
numbers will be shown directly at the top or bottom of the respective page
when in Page Layout View.
