page title dilema

DianaH

I have a gazillion pages that have the wrong title, because, of course, I
use one page to create a bunch of others. The consequence is that I didn't
realize the title wouldn't change (I know now). Is there a quick way to
select a bazillion files and make the title be the same as the name of the
file.

Please tell me there's a way to do this without having to change the
properties of each and every file. Thanks. Diana

You don't want to change the title to the name of the file it would be
meaningless, lets say one of files is named

greenfurbags.htm

That is three keywords meshed into one keyword which makes no sense.

even if you had made your file names like for instance

green-fur-bags.htm which is the best seo optimization

then your title would read green-fur-bags.htm

I think there is a jimco free addin that will do what you want
http://jimcoaddins.com/addins.aspx but you can look and change each one I'm
not sure though as I've not looked at it. It's called page titles.

You need to take each page and optimize it.

file name
title
meta tags for description and keywords
h1
h2

all based on the contents of that page

no one little thing works you have to do it all

for more information see this free seo class be sure to read the joining
process carefully.

I do have just such an add-in, and it should make what you want to do pretty
easy.

Thanks Jim ... I visited your site and downloaded it ... plus a couple of
others. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

And to Tina ... thanks for the response. The name of the file would work
for the title (without the html extension would be better, of course),
because the name relates exactly to what the page is ... it's one word.
Right now, it has the wrong word name on all the pages. So, having the
name, even with the extension would be better than what they have now.
Jimco Jim also responded ... saying that he does have an add-in that will
work.

Thanks. Diana
