Page X of Y Problems with Word 97

Using a word template to print documents in Word 97 (SR-2) by clicking on a button in SAP. On some documents, but not all - the document will print correctly if pulled up directly - but X of Y changes to X of 1 when printed through clicking the button in SAP. I ready the "Page X of Y" gives wrong numbers document and saw the suggestion of using a PAGEREF and bookmark. Is this the best suggestion for fixing this problem? The text in the document will stay fairly consistent.

IIRC the so-called 'leap year' patch did fix this for Word 97, so it would
be worth applying the cumulative patch post SR2. However, given that the
latest patches seem to have broken what was working in Word 2000, this may
not help!
