Pages display incorrectly

I've recently added a new ISP and uploaded a site that has been running
without problem on my old site. The pages in question were generated by
saving word docs as htm docs. Now I get lots of ? marks in the blank areas
of the page.
I appreciate your time helping me solve this,

The ? means the the character code is not available on the server or
client. Either use Unicode or safe characters.

In that case it makes "Words" ability to save in HTML format somewhat
useless correct?

It is a quick way to create HTML documents from existing documents. But
is is not the best way. Word creates a lot of buggy code behind the
scenes and if you want consistent look and layout of your web pages, you
may end up spending more time cleaning up the code.

When it comet to using existing documents, here are my preferences:

1. Convert to PDF and use the PDF on the seite, if I want to preserve
the original content and formatting and want people to be able to read
and print.

2. Use the fiel as-is in Word, if I want people to be able to re-use the
file in Word for themselves.

3. Create an HTML page using copy and paste (the option without)
formatting)of Word content and apply style/formatting within the HTML
document.
