pages not refreshing/changes not being viewed

Using FP 2002 - made minor changes, saved and uploaded via FTP (not using FP
Extension features).

changes are not showing up on site. (e.g. adding a small gif animation to right
hand side.....)

the gif is this : http://members.iinet.net.au/~admurray/images/shorturl.gif
It should be on every page of the site, on the right hand side near the
top......in my frontpage code view it is there but after uploading I do a view
source and the reference to the above image is not even in the code!

Would this be something to do with Temp files ? I have IE set to check for new
pages automatically.

I even tried deleting the html file from the server, and re-uploading a fresh
copy with no luck.....

this is the actual site.....http://members.iinet.net.au/~admurray/index.htm
I have a redirection URL on this http://www.murraywebdesign.shorturl.com
redirecting to the above - would this have anything to do with it.

If I go to the site with either 'actual' URL or the 'redirect' URL the image in
question does not show up.

I can't tell what I should delete from the FrontpageTempDir - any suggestions
please. The files in this dir should surely be deleted on closing Frontpage?? I
looked in there the other day and found a whole heap of junk that hasn't been
cleared out by my "clean up tools" like the utility that comes with Windows or
Nortons Cleansweep etc. Is it safe to delete all files from FrontpageTempDir?

Thanks in advance.

Andrew

I see the image just fine on the page. There's a "X" right above it. Try
deleting your Temporary Internet Files in IE and reloading the page.

This looks like a caching issue within your browser.

This is normal behavior on the Web. You can either click
Ctrl+Refresh, hope your visitors do, or try the fixes
described at:

Thank you both for the reply, however I still have the problem -

Action taken :

1) Cleaned out the internet cache/temp internet files with Nortons Clean
sweep/internet sweep utility,
2) Deleted what Nortons missed, manually (cookies and so on - but this is not the
same thing as the cache/temp files (?)
3) Did the "delete temp internet files" from within IE via Tools > Options
4) Have the browser set to "Check for new pages every time"
5) Have put those meta tags in the <head> sections by Jim Buyens (other poster)
6) Tried Ctrl-F5 but doesn't seem to want to refresh to the newer versions.

The PC has been on all night in sleep mode and I think with IE still open - does
this have anything to do with it as the "check every time" option also says it
check for new versions since the last time IE was open (and if it wasn't closed,
would it know the difference?).

I'll try a shutdown/restart later and see if I get anywhere.

Interestingly I can make other changes to the page and it will reflect the new
changes immediately but the graphic(s) in question of my original post still
don't show up on my system - if I preview in FP they display and if I view in IE
locally (c:\my documents\my webs.....etc it shows OK as well.

I've determined a problem with shorturl.gif and n_btnw1b.gif themselves:
Click on the URLs to the pictures, and you will see them come up, so they do
exist and the paths are correct;
yet I can't get them display within a web page.

Please report back as to whether you do see them or not.....they should each come
up twice: onece with the relative url like ../images/shorturl.gif and once the
full url as below

http://members.iinet.net.au/~admurray/images/shorturl.gif
http://members.iinet.net.au/~admurray/images/n_btnw1b.gif
http://members.iinet.net.au/~admurray/images/tools.gif

They should show up if you go to their addresses directly. The test page is:
http://members.iinet.net.au/~admurray/test-image.htm. The image, "tools.gif"
shows up, but" n_btnw1b.gif" and "shorturl.gif" do not, yet they are on the
server.

They display OK when a direct link to them is clicked; but not from within a web
page (even something simple like the test-image.htm file).

Thanks again, perhaps something else might be suggested ?

I still see all the images just fine on all the links you provided. Have
you tried viewing the site on a different PC?
