Pagination slows scrolling

I have a manual in Word that has several intensive
graphics and other advanced formatting. I am
experiencign significant delays in scrolling and notice
that the status bar is flashing that Word is
repaginating. Is there any way to turn this off so
things will speed up? And, if so, what are the
ramifications, if any?

Thanks

You can only turn off background repagination in Normal view -- in Page Layout view, it's always turned on and there's no way to overcome that. I suspect, tho, that merely switching to Normal mode will speed up scrolling thru the document, but you'll take a hit when you switch back to Page Layout view and Word does one, big, loooooong repagination. To turn off background repagination, switch to Normal view, select Tools > Options from the menu, click the General tab, and clear the Background repagination checkbox.

HTH!
