Pagination

Hello

I am working on Standard Operating Procedures for my
company and I am having problems with the page numbering.
I am using the code in the footer for page X of Y, which
works just fine when creating the document. However, after
it is saved and I reopen the file or email the file all
pages revert to a page 1 of 1, 2 of 1, 3 of 1 etc. How do
I fix this? Is there a way to lock the page numbering
without locking the document?

If anyone knows how to fix this I would greatly appreciate
it. This is driving me crazy.
