Why when I open a word 2003 document on a machine with
word 2000 does it unexpectedly insert 6000 new pages?

Hi B,
If you have a Word 2003 installation that can open the
document correctly, try saving it as a web page (or as
WordML). Then open that and save again as a Word document.
With any luck, that should eradicate the structural
problems.

Sounds like something in the document structure is damaged.
If you have a Word 2003 installation that can open the
