Hi Marian -

Insert> Page Numbers is just too simple and most everything needed to insert
page numbers is included in Help :) so there must be more to your question
than you've actually stated.

Post a New Message rather than tacking on to a thread that's been dead for a
month a pertained to an entirely different subject in a completely different
version of the program. Make sure to include exact version & OS details as
well as a complete & accurate description of what the problem is.

Easy
View header and footer. Stick the insertion point in the header.
Insert ÈÊpage numbers, then paddle in that sheet's format... to get
the starting number sorted out.
(I'm using 2004, but I'm pretty sure v.X did similar. Ask again if it
doesn't work. I think there is a v.X lying about on an older machine
here somewhere.)

I am going to take a wild guess that Marian wants a page number appearing on
the second page that says "2" and nothing on the first page.

There are several ways to do this.

The simplest is to go to Format>Document>Margins and set Header and Footer
to "Different first page."

Then insert your page number in the Footer, but NOT in the "First Page
Footer". The First Page footer will appear on Page 1, with no page number.
The other footer will appear on page 2 and subsequent pages, and it WILL
contain a page number.

So the first page number you will see or print is "Page 2".

Hope this helps
