Painfully slow Outlook performance

Outlook is taking a number of seconds for each command -- deleting a single
message, moving to the next message, etc. etc..

My other programs a re working nicely at full speed and I have sufficient
memory (both RAM and ROM).

What can I do to speed up Outlook and why might be this be happening?

Missing my Thunderbird speedy email....8^(

That might depend on your version of OL, its mail type (pop or?) and the
size of your pst (data file) & the o/s
all of which you failed to reveal
