Painfully slow scrolling in Word 2008 after saving

Weird: as soon as I save a Word 2008 .docx scrolling slows to a crawl.
Before saving it is fast. Anyone else see this? I have no startup
items, have turned off live word count and autosaving, but these have
made zero difference.

BTW, I think this group has been porn spammed. Not happy to see this.

That unfortunately is the problem with nntp. Everybody can post to it.
Some mirrors have spam filters and some don't.
I saw my first two spam in a long time in the group here today. I
guess the server I use has a decent enough filter :-\

Some nntp clients even tried to implement built-in spam filters.

Anyway, any thoughts as to why scrolling in Word 2008 is so slow after
saving a document? I'm running OS 10.6.4 and have 3 GB of RAM.
Scrolling in Safari, Mail, etc. is fine.

Not really. It could be a document corruption (even from the Normal
template), or an image somewhere in the document that's a but heavy.

Have you tried different views?? Is it as slow in Print Layout view as
in Draft view for instance?

No images are present and it is also slow in other views same with
other documents, so it's not document-specific.

Then it's weird.
Have you tried setting the preferences aside?
