Palm hot sync is duplicating appointments

I have an old Palm III, which worked well with Office 2002 until a few weeks
ago.

Now, when I hot-sync, recurring calendar appointments get replicated many
(~6) times each, on both Office and Palm.

Eventually the hot-sync fails due to timeout. (Probably due to an infinite
loop.)

I have re-loaded PocketMirror 3.0 conduit software, and erased the Palm and
started over. No luck. I cringe at the thought of re-installing Office.
