Alice in the rabbit hole

I just got this computer. I am so lost. I started looking around and the
longer I had my dial-up, the slower my computer seemed to work. So I went to
Panda software site and downloaded the "free" antivirus. How can I check to
see if I got it because my 3 year old shut down my tower before I could make
sure it was completely downloaded. Also how can I pull it up if it was?

You should be posting to a group that supports your operating system, this
group is for Microsoft Office
Generally the first thing you should do with a new PC is visit Microsoft
Update and ensure all MS critical updates are installed.
You should examine the paperwork you got with your PC as it is allways
possible an antivirus application was supplied with it, and if so
installling a second AV product will cause problems
