At home I have the option to print on index cards:
"Index Card, 3x5 in."

How can I get that paper size into a printer at the office, pls?

Thank you! :eek:D

This question doesn't appear to deal with the database software Microsoft
Access, but with the configuration of your office printer. Some printers can
handle 3x5 paper, some can't; you'll need to consult the manufacturer.

It may be that only IT admin personnel have the capability of making
the following changes.

Go into the list of Printers under the Settings button from the Start
menu. You may need to do this on the print server. Then click on
File >> Server Properties Then you can create a new form with the
sizes you want on it as well as a name.

Note that if you are taking the database between home and office you
will want to ensure the paper size name is absolutely identical right
down to the commas, spaces and periods.

Then you can follow the below steps inside Access to choose the just
created Paper Size. Go into the design of the report, Click
'File',Page Setup', Click the 'Page' tab., Select 'Specific Printer',,
Pick the printer you are using., Click 'Properties' then the 'Paper'
tab., In 'Paper Size' select 'Custom'. and choose your just created
Paper Size.

Thank you to everyone for their responses. Much appreciated.

THAT'S why I gave up on this solution. Without the ability to print
anywhere, esp. without fiddling, it renders this entire db useless.
So shelving this. I tried to get this to work at this new contract,
too, and I remembered then that I'd tried this before. Sorry my
memory is quite faulty sometimes, a problem I've had all my life ...
lesson learned: I didn't leave notes behind on why I stopped
developing this Access solution even though in every other respect, it
pretty much did the job.

However, things are much different now. We have many more options
esp. with regards to being able to use stuff off of a memory stick and
what will run on it. I have another db program that is now portable
and that allows us to create custom page sizes natively within the
program itself and not stupidly dependent on printers accessible on
host computers. I've always thought this was a serious Access
weakness and now doubly so. Ah well. As long as there's way to do
it even if not pertinent to this ng.

Thanks once again! :eek:D

Wow! That is impressive -- almost miraculous! I wonder how this program can
make a printer handle a paper size that is smaller than the printer is
designed for?

I have a couple of printers for which handle no paper or card smaller than
4" x 6". I would venture to guess that your miracle software would have a
very difficult time forcing either of them to physically handle a 3" x 5"
card. That is why Access, and other well-designed software interacts with
the driver software to determine the paper sizes that the actual device will
handle.
