Paragraph Symbol

I have no idea what I did to make this happen but all of a sudden, the
paragraph symbol shows up whenever I am creating a new email message and I
cannot get rid of it. I followed the instructions from the online
instructions but the paragraph symbol does not show up on any toolbar -
standard or advanced.
Please help. It is driving me nuts.
