paragraph symbols. how to remove?

Paragraph symbols and periods appear interspersed throughout my
document. Can anyone help me to figure out how to remove?

To turn off the display of non-printing characters, press Command-8, or
click the pilcrow (¶) icon in the Standard toolbar.

It depends on your OS and version of MS Word (I assume you're referencing MS
Word).

Try Command 8 (Press the Command [Apple] key and the 8 key at the same
time.)
