Parameter Queries and Mailmerge to Word

Hi. Im using XP and Access 2002. In my case, after
starting the MM Wizard in the Word document, you answer
various general questions then you are asked to specify
the data source. I find using Browse easiest at this
point. Once you select the source mdb, you are asked for
any passwords that may be relevant and the connection
protocol (ie DDE), then the database is opened and you
are presented with a box that allows you to select from a
range of Tables and Queries. What exactly is
happening/not happening in your case? Noel

Hi Liz. Ive just modified one of my queries to Parameter
type and successfully created a MM doc linked to it. It
appeared in the list of queries just like all the rest.
The only small problem I encountered was when I clicked
on the query name to select it and didnt realise that a
hidden window was sitting waiting for me to enter the
parameter. I have no idea why your parameter query is not
showing. Perhaps you could try modifying , to parameter
type, one of the queries that does show. If that still
shows on your list then theres something wrong with your
original query. Strange though. Dont wish to affend but
are you absolutely sure you are selecting the correct mdb
when browsing? Cheers, Noel

Hi Noel

Don't worry not offended. I am choosing the right mdb. I also know about
the hidden window and it wasn't that. You led me to the answer tho' when
you said something in your original post about DDE. When I was choosing the
mdb I didn't have to answer anything about DDE. So I went searching. I
eventually found the solution. In Tools, Options, General tab I checked
the option to Confirm conversion on Open. (It was unchecked by default.)
Then when I selected the mdb, I was given some choices. One of them was
the DDE option so I picked it. Lo and behold! I was offered the parameter
query.

So, thanks for the help

Liz
