Partial Resource Allocation

Hello Everyone,

I have a requirement where a resource is allocated on three different
projects say 30 % on Project A , 50% on Project B and 20% on Project C.

Is there a way to define the resource commitment (partial allocation)
to a project at the project level (A,B,C) so that PM does not have to
go back every time project is opened in Microsoft Project and edit the
resource availability to partial allocation to certain percentage since
Microsoft Project resets it back to 100% after you close the project.

Any input on this will be highly appreciated?

Thanks in advance.

Tell your Project Managers to set the Max Units that they want to use for
the project, add one of the unused local custom text fields to the resource
sheet, and before closing the project copy the Max Units column to the text
field column. All they have to do is copy the text field column back to the
Max Units column when they next open the project.

Hi Gary,

Thank you so much for your response.

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to write some kind of macro
to enforce the original requirement?

So that whenever the PM opens the project, it remembers the original
allocation of the resource to project and set it to the Max Units
column.

Your thoughts?

Thanks again.

Sincerely,
-Rajiv
