Password for a folder

S

Shahreer Ahmad

It is very good that we can protect our files by a persnal password. However
I wish, if we aill be able to protect any kind of folder by a password. This
will eliminate for assigning of password for each file, instead all such
files can be kept in one folder also it is difficult to remeber many
passwords.

1) This is an Office group. Your query has nothing whatsoever to do with
Office.
2) You may not password protect individual folders (though, depending on
your OS and I'm going to assume you're running XP Pro or 2000, XP Home
doesn't offer that much in the way of security features, you may set
permissions as to who can access them. Use the Help and Support Centre to
learn more about file and folder permissions).

If you are using the NTFS file system, you can set a password on specific
directories. I would suggest that you post to a group for your operating
system to inquire further.

Milly I believe you meant ""permissions" on specific directories" not
"passwords"

Yes, I did - thank you for reading my mind. I am apparently not so good at
it from this end.
