Password for .pst file is no longer prompting

Hello,
I have a .pst file which had a password set. Now when I start outlook the
prompt for entering a password never comes up and outlook opens. I have tried
to change the password 3 times, I performed a detect and repair, did a oogle
search (which yealded nothing but password recovery programs and other
questionable programs)
I am at a little bit of a loss. Any Ideas??

Did you reboot the PC? Perhaps Outlook is being kept open and, hence, so is
the PST.

Brian,
Yes the machine gets rebooted nightly before I leave work. I also checked
settings on our exchange server as well, which should have no bearing on this
because my pst is located on my local machine not on any network drives.

Can you change the password?

Yes, the password is able to be changed.

1. Change Passoword.
2. Shutdown Outlook
3. Reboot machine
4. Start outlook / no password box prompted.
5. Remove password.
6. Restart Step 2,3,4 same results.

I was thinking a re-install of outlook might do the trick, but then again,
might not. I might try one of those pst utils to see if the pst file is
damaged. Thats about the only solution that I can come up with though.
