password is incorrect

i recently installed the microsoft office 2000 sp-1
professional on my computer, but can no longer open
microsoft word documents that were previously password
protected. when i attempt to open the word document i am
prompted to enter the password as expected, but when i
type a "valid" password and click enter i get the error
message "the password is incorrect." i have approximately
20 documents all with the same password, which cannot be
opened since the upgrade. any help unlocking these files
would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
