password not accepted

I have a user who has a win98 ( NOT SE ) and OfficeXP.
When he opens outlook it asks for his password then when
he enters it a message comes up and says password does not
match. However, if he enters that same password again on
the 5th time it takes the password. I have reinstalled
Office XP installed all updates and service patches. If
he logs in on another machine outlook does not ask for a
password.
