Password protect a page

is there a way to password protect a page without having my host do that.
I think I have seen some add-ins to do that.

HI! You cannot totally protect it without you ISP unless you put it in the
_private folder, ( There is a issue concerning the _private folder since the
release of 2003, so I am not sure if you can ) OR ( unless you have full
control of permissions on your site ) but you can however protect its link
in a script which will then send the user to the link or page if the right
credentials are given.

Your host will have to support subwebs and unique permissions under the FP Server Extensions
