How can you password protect a FOLDER in MS Word?
(a folder and not a file)

You can't -- that's a Windows operation, not a Word operation.

If you have Windows 2000, XP Pro, or 2003, use Windows Explorer. Right-click
the folder and select Properties. Go to the Security tab. Add your login ID
and give it full control, and then delete the Everyone group.

If you want other users to be able to access the folder, use the computer
management console to create a new group and add those users to the group;
then add the group to the folder's Security tab with full (or only List and
Read) access. Those users will have to be logged in with their passwords
even to see what's in the folder.
