Password protect Outlook express

I set up Outlook express on a pc running Windows 98.
When OE opens and immediately opens the "main identity"
users mail. There is only one account set up on OE so
that's the main. My question is, how can I password
protect this person's account? I've tried doing it
under "managing identities" and password protecting it
however, when I open OE there is a login/password screen
but before you log in the main identity account opens
anyway allowing anyone to read her mail. Any idea how I
can avoid this?
