Password protected pages

I've tried to follow the instructions, from the following address
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825498/en-us?spid=2514&sid=275), to create
password protected pages, but to no avail.

For instance, once everything is done, it says to right-click and preview in
new browser, but instead of HTML, I get the TEXT I created the page with from
the instructions.

I've heard that FrontPage converts the code when you use FP to publish...is
that true?

Also, when I try to publish the subsite, FP won't publish the subsite as a
subsite...I have to create a folder manually and then copy the files from the
subsite onto the web. What am I missing here?

TIA,

AK

You need to publish the pages - that method uses ASP which is a server side
technology and can only be viewed on a web server - or on your local system
if you happen to be running XP Pro with IIS installed, or some other web
server software that runs Active Server Pages.

The first step this page says is to create the page on your web server (or
localhost if you can run IIS on XP Pro).

To create a new Web site in FrontPage 2003, follow these steps: 1. Start
FrontPage 2003.
2. On the File menu, click New.
3. In the task pane, click More Web site templates, and then click
Empty Web Site.
4. Under Options, type the location where you want to store the new
Web site in the following format:
http://servername/logon

It doesn't work with disk-based webs such as C:\website\yourweb.....
