Password Protecting Pages and Directories

It seems to me that FP used to have a simple way to password
protect sections of websites.

I upgraded to FP2003 some time back and lately tried to find
that feature, but cannot. I tried the 'help' using every
conceivable search keys and still had no luck. Am I
imagining things?

Is there not a simple way to do this without writing code?

Hope there is.

TIA

Your host will have to support subwebs and unique permissions under the FP Server Extensions

Thanks, that is what I was looking for. Thanks to the
others as well for the ideas. Could not find it _anywhere_
in the new 'help' system in FP2003

I'm still open to (free) ideas that will password protect
individual pages without creating a subweb and also will not
break FP.

Thanks again.

If you're hosted on Apache/UNIX and have the CPanel web master control panel,
see if it has the Web Protect feature. If so
It will password protect a standard folder.

The only way to protect individual page is with a server-side scripting language unless you have
complete control over the server and can set permissions at the file level.

Allen,

Not free but worth it Page Protector will protect the content of a single page. Page Protector Pro will protect single pages but
with a page grouping.
