Password Question/Access 2007

I have a database on a shared network drive that is accessed by all
departments. There are two departments in our office I want to have access,
but I don't want ALL departments to have access, so I password protected it.
Before I password protected it, multiple users could access the DB at the
same time, enter their data, and get out. Now, with the password protect, it
appears to only allow one person at a time into the database. Is this
supposed to happen or am I doing something wrong?

The password should have nothing to do with it. Remove it and try
again to check for yourself.
From your description it seems like you have not split your database
in front-end and back-end. That is a REALLY BAD IDEA and will
certainly cause grief down the road. Since this is a FAQ you should
have no problems finding advice about this.

I did remove the password protect, and then it worked fine. This database is
being used by a small group of people as a pilot project group. Once I have
finaled the database, I plan to split the database for all our users to have
access to. I set the database up so that no there were no tabs, the
navigation pane was not accessible, and the data entry form automatically
opens when the database is opened. We don't have high-end users in our
department (and in the pilot group); however, I did come in one morning and
found the tabs visible and the navigation pane accessible indicating to me
someone was checking out the database. So I decided to pw protect the DB so
only those in the pilot group would have the pw and access the DB. Then I
ran into this problem. When one of the pilot group tried to access the DB
when it was pw protected, it got a message that it was in use by another user.
