password suddenly needed to open database

I have many Access 2000 databases on a server which are not password
protected. Recently I added a hyperlink to one of the and it opened just
fine. But I was asked for a password when closing and compacting. Now when
I attempt to open the database through a shortcut or directly from Access I
need to enter a password (which has never been set). I can only open it
through a hyperlink in a word document. Fortunately the other databases are
not affected by this. Months ago I attempted to add user-level security and
then decided to remove it. Could this be affecting the database now? Any
suggestions?

Hi,

If it's a database password and NOT User Level security then.....

(you also mentioned that you open the database via a hyperlink in Word
document)

you've ran into issue where opening database via Word or a macro in Word
document causes a password to be assigned to database file, see: 321905
ACC2000: Database Password Prompt Appears After You Open a Database

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.
