Password to open Outlook

Can I have it so that it requires a password to open Outlook? I don't mean
to access the email accounts...I'd like to set it so that Outlook cannot be
opened without entering a password. Is this possible?

Not really, your security is based on your profile.
If you are sharing your machine with others and do not
want them to access your mailbox, you should probably
create separate profiles for each, and then password
protect your profile.

Depends on the type of mail account that you are using and what you are
trying to achieve; why do you need a password protected Outlook in the first
place?

Here's the thing. I've got about 5 or 6 email accounts that are set to be
accessed from Outlook. I'd like to make it so that when I attempt to open
Outlook, a password is required.

I want others to be able to access the computer on this user account, but I
don't want them to be able to freely access Outlook. Of course I can keep
it so that the email accounts will require the input of their
password....but I don't want to have to put in 5 or 6 passwords everytime I
want to send and receive mail.

Is there another way that might be recommended?

I would use separate user accounts. Otherwise the original question still
stands; for which mail account type?

You passworded the .pst file (the message store). In Outlook,
right-click on the root node for the message store, Properties,
Advanced, and Change Password. Enter the old password but leave blank
the new password. This works for OL2002. You never mentioned WHICH
version of Outlook that you use. An alternate method is to use the Mail
applet in Control Panel, select your message store, Settings, and Change
Password. How to get to the Mail applet also depends on WHICH version
of Windows (and if you are using the childish Fisher-Price interface)
but you didn't mention that, either.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking by "account type". It is a POP3
account if that is what you were referring to. I'm using Outlook 2002 in
Windows XP. The problem I noticed with other user accounts is that for some
reason, even though I set the new accounts a Administrators, there still
seems to be some access limitations or restrictions. For example, on the
default user account I can access certain websites and certain
functionalities of various websites that I cannot access on a second user
account. This was discovered on a kids website. I think the portion that
wouldn't work had to do with either JavaScript or Flash (most likely flash).
The result was that the flash module would just display as if it were
loading. It would never get to the point of being able to be used. But on
the default user account, it would load right up with no problems. So I'd
like to somehow be able to give the kids access to this account without
allowing them to get into Outlook (which has about 5 or 6 linked accounts).

I'm thinking this is probably not going to be a possibility.

Thanks,
Paul

Thanks for the reply. It is OL2002 from Office XP on Windows XP SP2. I
will explore your suggestions.

Thanks.
