Passwords

Ok, I have Win 98, Ofc 2000. My problem is w/Excel. I have a financial
worksheet that I want to keep anyone from seeing, much less changing.
I know I've done this before because I have another sheet that when I
call it up, I have to enter my password two times to even view it on
the screen. Don't remember how I did it.

My problem is this. When I ask Excel Help, it tells me to go to the
Tools menu, select Options, then the General tab. Im supposed to
furnish it with a password that I want for it to open. The only
problem is that THERE IS NO SUCH ITEM on the General tab, nor on any
of the other tabs. the only other tabs I have are, Transition, Custom
Lists, Chart, Color, View, Calculation, and Edit.

The Tools, Protection doesn't help, as that just protects me from
someone changing content w/o a password.

Help anyone????

When you save the workbook the first time (file>save as) there is a dialogue
box from where you select folder/drive/name of the file etc
in the upper right tools, click and from dropdown select General Options,
there you can password protect the file from being opened

This works even if you just use File|SaveAs and save over the current workbook.

But I bet Peo knew that <vbg>.
