Paste now only works between 2 open messages

Paste no longer works unless both my old and new messages are open. If I copy
text first, then open the new message, the paste function is greyed out.
Same problem using both mouse and keyboard.

Do you click in the body of the new message first before trying the paste? By
default, when you open a new message, the insertion point will be in the To
field and paste may not be active then.

Thanks Brian, but the paste function isn't available at all, no matter where
I click, unless I first open the new message, then go back into the old one
to copy. So frustrating as I do this dozens of times each day. I'm still
using Outlook 2003. Never had a problem until our IT dept. gave me a new PC
and copied over all my drive.
