Paste throwing in extra returns

Oh my gosh! I've never seen this in my life. I hope someone has a solution.

In just a regular Word doc, with normal as the style, I type two lines,
separated by a simple hard return. Then, I copy the text and paste it
elsewhere (also just a standard normal style (singled spaced, no before or
after spacing). Once pasted, Word throws in an extra hard return. So now,
there is one line, two hard returns, then the next line.

I blew out the normal template and forced Word to ceate a new one, but that
didn't make any difference.

I hope someone has seen this so I don't need to re-install Word!

Sounds crazy...!

Try turning on your
"reveal codes" feature.

Then you can make sure
and see if you may be inadverdently
capturing a "carriage return code"
with your selection...

Trust me, that's not the case. I am an expert in Word. I perform the same
steps on another computer and it's all fine.

Start Word in Safe Mode and see if you're still encountering the issue. To
start in Safe Mode, hold Ctrl while starting Word and continue to hold it
until you are prompted with a message to start in Safe Mode.

If the issue doesn't occur then chances are you have an add-in that is
causing the issue. Locate it and you'll have the problem resolved.
