Pasting Charts - Excel vX

I do a lot of work where I make a lot of charts. I copy one chart and paste
it over and over, then change the data for each chart. The problem is, after
I have pasted a lot of charts, the program does not let me paste any more. I
get an error message saying "No more new fonts may be applied in this
workbook."

For a while, I thought this happened only on the larger files, but now it is
happening on a file that is less than 1 MB. On this particular file, I have
two worksheets with 36 charts each, and four columns of data (3000 rows or
less). The charts are simple 8 point scatter charts with connecting lines.

Previously, I have been able to copy the worksheet within the file (from the
edit menu: "move or copy worksheet"). Then I don't have to copy-paste any
more charts, I just paste in new data. But this time, I got the same "no
more new fonts" message, which repeated itself over and over (maybe for each
new chart it created?). It seemed like it actually copied, but I soon as I
tried to do anything, Excel unexpectedly quit.

In other workbooks, I usually only encountered this problem when I tried to
paste over 200 charts. Those workbooks had a lot more data as well. The
problem also occurs even after I have saved the workbook or relaunched
Excel.

I have installed the latest office updates (10.1.3). I am running the
program on a 1GHz Powerbook with 512 MB of memory, and plenty of hard drive
space available.

Thanks for your help,
Romy

Hi,

I THINK the first solution worked (clearing the Autoscale check box). To
test it, I tried creating two identical files. In one I unchecked the box,
and in the other I left it checked. After copy-pasting the chart over 10
times, I copied the worksheet into the same workbook. In the one with the
box checked, I got the message, while in the other workbook (unchecked box),
I did not. So the solution seems to work in that case. However, it did not
work in my original workbook when I unchecked the boxes for all of the
previously pasted charts and then tried to copy-paste some new charts. I
immediately got an error message. So it seems that one has to uncheck the
autoscale box before creating the problem.

One condition that my situation did not meet from the article is that my
charts did not contain titles. I named the series in each chart (so that it
would show up in the legend), but then deleted the titles that appeared at
the top.

Thanks a lot for your help. I have a project coming up that requires me to
make about 1000 charts, so having this problem cleared up will make it a lot
easier.
