Pasting dates causes the year to change

When I paste data with dates included such as bank statement lists of dates with deposit amount, the pasting corrupts the dates usually by the year changing. I have just pasted dates for 2009 and it gets changed to 2005, another time 2032. How can this be prevented?

Computers normally use one of two Date Systems - 1900 or 1904. This is a
file specific setting so it doesn't matter which program or OS opens the
file, the dates will be correct. However, when you copy from a file that
uses one date system into a file that uses the other the pasted dates will
be off by 4 years ± 1 day. Have a look here for more:
