Pasting illustrator artwork into powerpoint

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) We have just moved from pc to imac with windows paralell. On a daily basis we create artwork for clients in illustrator and used to paste directly into powerpoint as .emf files. After a day of looking for a forum to explain to me why we suddenly can't do it on the imac I find out that it is because we are using powerpoint on a mac and the mac doesn't like emf files! Will this be sorted out soon do you think? - I now have to go back to my old pc - open up my files there and paste everything in - then walk back to the imac - completely mad.

Anyone have any information about this hugely annoying problem.

It isn't PPT, it's that if you have the file open in Illy what you're
copying isn't an EMF file. It's an Illy (AI) file & the Mac OS Clipboard
doesn't use EMF format -- EMF is a Windows OS format. What you wind up with
is vector data, so that's what you're pasting into the presentation file. If
you use Edit> Paste Special - Picture, PPT will receive a PNG interpretation
of the artwork from the OS X Clipboard rather than the vector data, itself.

Quite honestly [IMHO] the better method is to use the Insert> Picture
command in PPT (or any other program) rather than copy/paste. You'll
typically get a much better result by avoiding the Clipboard altogether on
*either* OS. Mac PPT has no problem with EMF, nor does OS X -- it just isn't
the native graphic format.

Hi thanks for the reply - had already figured out from other forums that the mac doesn't use emf formats.

We don't want pictures! We've created vector artwork ie logos, illustrations and want it as vector artwork in powerpoint - to re-scale, re-colour etc. as we used to do on the pc.

The question is if anybody knows if there will be a solution soon.

Thanks
