I've got a Win2K machine where the users are getting this message
when trying to get into any office pro application (Word, Excel, Access,
Outlook, Publisher): The patch package could not be opened. Verify that
the patch package exists and that you can access it.
As per other messages here and in the Win2K.General group I've tried
the Q295823 article and removed and reinstalled office with no luck, I'm
still getting this message.
Some other details that may be relevant, this computer was infected by
the Welchia worm for a short period of time see:

, I removed it with the Symantec tool and have repeatedly scanned and
rescanned the computer with all the latest updates applied to the 2003
NAV software and have turned up no further infections. This problem
started after this incident but the Norton details on this worm make no
mention of it causing any problems with office. Also if I log in as
administrator then I can run all office applications without any of the
above problems.
Can anyone make a suggestion here, the only thing left for me to do
would be to wipe the hard drive and reinstall Win2K and all applications
from scratch and I really, really do not want to have to do that.
