PB G4 crashes when quitting word

After saving a Word doc and I try to quit Word it freeezes and crashes the computer. I cursor shows for a minute, then the menu bar just stays with Help in
the top left, the cursor vanishes and all I can do is force quit and restart. I am using OS9.2.2, Office 2001. Also, if Word is open when I go to shut down or restart for some other reason the computer will freeze and crash instead of shutting down or restarting. I've tried to trash the Word preferences and also reinstalling and it will work for a while, if I'm lucky, but not always.
