I had to migrate everything from old laptop to new desktop b/c laptop heat
sync unit blew. Migration was successful, but I cannot get into any of my
office products, because it says my product key is invalid. Please, please,
please tell me that I don't have to buy this software again . . . :)

Perhaps the Office Products were OEM, supplied with the old sys? If that is
the case they lived and died with the old sys.
But then perhaps you purchased an Office2003 key on line, converting from a
trail version?

Usually an error about the product key being invalid is just due to a typo
when you input the key.
