pdf into word

I want to pull in a pdf file into Word as a picture--can it be done without
doing a "save as" in Adobe into a jpg or eps file. I need the quality of the
graphics to stay the same.

Which version of Word?

Assuming a 1-page PDF and Word 2003, use Insert>Object - Create from File.
If the PDF is more than one page the entire file will be inserted but only
the first page will display.

The Insert > Object method should work. When inserting the file, make sure
that "Display as icon" is _not_ checked in the Object dialog box.

If "Display as icon" is checked, Word will insert an icon which you can
double-click to open the file. If the check box is unchecked, Word will
insert the contents of the (first page of the) file as an "object".

Deb:

Just so you don't feel so all alone, I get the same behavior as you do,
using Word 2000. Nothing but an icon.

If you ever find out what we're missing (maybe a registered DLL or a
Reference in Normal.dot or something) please let me know, and I'll do the
same.

Do you have Reader, Acrobat or other PDF-compatible program installed? If
something other than an Adobe product do you have PDFs associated with
whatever PDF creator/reader you are using?

Embedding objects requires that a supporting application be available since
the host app - in this case Word - can't open the PDF file.

Have Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 both at work and at home. Have Word 2003
both at work and at home. I can double click on the icon in Word and Acrobat
opens up to the file but I want the file inserted into word just like it
would be if I "inserted figure".
