What is the best product to convert PDF files to Excel?

"Best" as in functionality, price, dependability?
If you do a 'net search for "pdf to excel" you will get a load of hits.
I don't see any free ones.

PDF files have many different formats. some are treated as text and some are
treated as pictures. The PDF files that are pictures have less resolution
than a windows bit mapped file and don't look great in excel.
If you need text data into excel, I usually read it into Word first. Then
copy the data from word into excel. From word if you have column data you
may be able to do a direct copy and past with good results.
Other options are to save the word file as text and then import text data
into excel.

I usually just gnash my teeth and start copying from the PDF and pasting
into a worksheet, realigning as I go.

Yesterday after I responded to this question I got the same question at work.
we did a little investigation and found if you had Adobe Proffesional writer
you can save PDF to Microsoft word format.
I also have did it the painful way of scanning a document. the using the
Micrtosoft word OCR conversion. You can go toe the word Inser Menu and
select Picrue - from scanner.

Since so many people are gnashing their teeth and doing it the hardway, I decided long back to present myself as a service provider to
solve this problem!!
Anyone who wants quick and accurate conversion of tables in a pdf file
to excel can contact me for a quote! Will do some samples for free.

as opposed the free Acrobat reader. You would probably have
to use the free Acrobat reader at home and do one column at
a time.
