PDFs That Can Be Copied From A Website

Am I able to include pdf documents on our website that other staff can simply
click on and copy (to paste into an email etc). Can staff select multiple
documents to copy?

I believe they will be required to select files one at a time.

Thanks for the response. However, I still need some instructions on how to
get the pdfs on the website in a format than can be copied. With the testing
that I have done so far, you can open the pdf document, but you cannot simply
select it and then right click to copy.

Thanks for your help with this. What I actually want is to be able to copy
the actual file (not save it or copy the shortcut).

Essentially I want it to operate the same way as it would if you were
searching for a file in Explorer. Quite often we send multiple pdf documents
to clients (or copy the documents onto CD for a client). Currently we do
this through Explorer from files loaded on one of our network drives.

As I'm hoping to make our office webite the primary location for all our
documents, I was hoping that I could put these documents on the webiste.

Su,

You could store the file on your website, have a link to the file and when
folks wanted a copy they could right click on the link and do "Save target
as..." and they then would have a copy of the file downloaded to their
computer. Or, if they wished, could double click on the file, it would open
and they could view it and either save it or discard it (not delete but just
disconnect from the file).

Give this a try and see if it works for you:

On your website, create a folder, call it files. Using a ftp (file transfer
program) upload the files you want to make available into the files folder.

On your website, select a page, area and type a file name you want to make
available, i.e., Accounts. Now highlight the word Accounts, select Insert,
Hyperlink, and in the window that pops up enter the path to the file,
Accounts, i.e., /files/Account.pdf (the file name). Upload the new website
files, go to the website, double click on Accounts and your file should pop
on to the screen. Or, right click on the link Accounts and do a Save as..

One thing to remember is these files are available to the entire planet
called Earth. You may want to password protect the folder "files". But
that's a future discussion.

One insecure way to do this would be to put your pdf files in a folder and
don't put an index page in that folder...if the folder permissions are set
for "browsable" then the folder contents will be displayed much like a
folder on your local machine only they will be links to the actual files.
