I am using an inhouse application for project management. I want to download a particular project from my inhouse application to Microsoft Project server : ie Project-Tasks-Resource-Work-Dates-Status from inhouse application to Project server.

Any ideas on this will be greatly appreciated ?

Is your inhouse application capable of saving the project as an Excel file,
a text file, an XML file, or as an ODBC database? If so, save your project
as one of those file types and then import the project as an .mpp file using
the Import/Export Wizard in Microsoft Project. Once you have saved the
..mpp, then import the project to the Project Server database using the
Import Project to Enterprise Wizard. Hope this helps.

Hello Dale,

Thanks a lot for your input. I was also thinking on same lines.

My Inhouse application can generate an xml but the issue is schema might be different then as required by Microsof.
Is there any standard Microsoft schema for upload kind of activities ? Can we straight away upload in Project server bypassing .mpp route ?

Although XML files can be imported directly into the Project Server database
using the Import Project to Enterprise Wizard, given your concerns about the
XML schema being different that what is required by Microsoft, I would
probably import the XML file as an .mpp file first. If the project imports
correctly as an .mpp file, then I believe you should then be able to import
it into the Project Server database using the Import Project to Enterprise
Wizard. Hope this helps.

I would recommend starting with a sample Project Pro project and then going
to File --> Save As --> Save As File --> Select File Type of XML. Then take
a look at the XML format that Project Pro exports.
