Percent Complete in Dynamically linked Cells

I am managing multiple tasks (essentially a sales cycle) per client. There
are components that are central tasks that if delayed should affect all my
client sales. For example if the product release date is delayed then all
individual sales are delayed.

To do this I've linked several tasks to a main task by

1) Copying the main task
2) Going to paste special and choosing paste link.

This seems to work great for updates to my task title (update in one cell
updates all linked cell), duration, etc.... however when I change the %
percent complete value then nothing this is not updated throughout my project?

a) Why?
b) How can I fix this?

Have you used links in project? much better and more flexible than copy
paste-link.

Project never moves a Task with actual progress.
