We have a database that is running on a local area network
file server. It was running fine until the data
conversion (importing old records). Before the data
conversion the parent table had approximately 5,000
records (total "mdb" file size approximately 6MB). There
were approximately 45,000 records imported (new total "mdb"
file size approximately 35MB). Somehow, after the data
conversion, the performance deteriorated substantially,
from 1-second response time to approximately 10-seconds
in searching and saving records respectively. In
addition, one of the value list (time in HH:SS format) in
one of the data entry from also takes approximately 5
seconds before the cursor tabs to the next field. I tried
to separate all the tables (back end - file server) from
the forms, queries, reports...etc (front end -
workstation). There was not much improvement.
We have a T1 line (connection) and the server has been
tested and no problems were found. Is there anything that
I can do to improve this performance? I will be extremely
greateful for any hints/tips that will help me improve the
performance of the database.
Thanks,
Fred
