Permanently Deleted E-mail

Ricky Rivera

I was wondering if someone can help me out. I permanently
deleted an e-mail I desperately need. Can any tell me if
I can restore the e-mail? I am running Windows 2000
Professional and using Outlook 2000 SR-1. Thanks for any
help you can give.

If your exchange server was etup to retain deleted
messages then if you highlight your deleted items folder,
click on tools and there will be an option to recover
deleted emails. I belive the default retension time is 3
days if it was not changed by the server admin.

For Exchange 5.5, you will need to locate the backup tape
for that date & restore to a server with the same name
but not in the same Exchange site since you can't have
two servers with the same name. Do a full restore
(directory & information store). You can then locate the
specific mailbox & copy the needed messages. Reference MS
article Q224977 for issues.
