permission denied

hi
I recently reformatted HDD and reloaded Win XP pro.
Before doing so I backed up all data, including my
outlook archive .pst file (contacts etc). I have tried
to import the data, but it won't let me, telling me that
I don't have permission to do so.
what gives?
thanks
Tony

Instead of Import, try File, Open and move the relevant info to your current
pst file.

I am also having a similar problem. Importing, opening,
even recreating the old id on the new machine - nothing
works!!!

How do we get around this problem?

nuh, still didn't work - permission still denied

Then either 1) the file is Read-Only or 2) you don't own it. If the former,
remove the Read-Only attribute. If the latter, take ownership of it (if
using Windows NT/2000/XP) and then make sure it's not Read-Only.

And how does one take permission? I have the same situation as Tony, but the
problem is with word and excel documents.

That doesn't work. I don't even see a "security tab" when I display the
file's properties. I'm running XP Pro, and I'm logged on as admin.
